Family Adventure Holiday - Trek, Raft & Safari

Day To Day Itinerary

DAY 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (Altitude 1400m/4593ft). Transfer to hotel (overnight in hotel).

You may have free time during the day depending on what time you arrive. A briefing will be given by our trekking leader in the late afternoon. He will discuss our trekking program in detail. The evening is free, but usually our tour leader will ask if the travellers want to have a group dinner (optional and at the traveller's own expense) at one of Kathmandu’s fine Nepali restaurants.

DAY 02: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara. Then drive to Kharekhola to start trek. Trek to Bhumdi Village.

After breakfast, we drive to Pokhara. From Pokhara, we drive for an hour to meet our Sherpa team and commence trekking. The trek is gradually up to Pumdi, a Gurung village where our kitchen staff will prepare us a hearty lunch. The views of the mountains, namely Annapurna and Dhaulagiri are fabulous including Manaslu and Machhapuchhare (Fishtail).

After lunch the gradual up-hill trail leads us up to Bhumdi Village where our Sherpa boys will welcome us with tea and biscuits and some hot water to freshen up. We may enjoy the serene beauty of the sunset as the Sherpa boys prepare and serve a sumptuous dinner at the dining tent. Dinner & Overnight at Camp.

DAY 03: Trek to Panchase Bhanjyang.

Early morning wake up call to view the sunrise over the mighty Annapurna and Dhaulagiri range and many other peaks of the Himalayas. After breakfast we start trekking along the ridge of the lush green hills and slowly enter the thick forest where the sound of the singing birds await us in the morning. Rest of the day is spent walking through beautiful forest. After 3 hours of trekking lunch will be served at Bhaisekharka.

After lunch, we walk for two hours slightly uphill climbing up to Panchase Bhanjyang, which is the highest point on the trek. Overnight camp at Panchase Bhanjyang also known as "Tashish's Camp” named after the first Australian Lady to have camped there. Dinner & Overnight at Camp.

DAY 04: Trek to Australian Camp.

Our trek guide will wake us up early in the morning for exploration  of the Panchase Danda We have to climb 500 meters from the campsite to enjoy the breathtaking views of the Himalayas including Lake Phewa in the foreground. Approximately hour and half trek to the last point. We return to the campsite for breakfast and continue trekking.

The trail descends for a while and follows the ridge to Bhadaure where lunch will be prepared and served.We continue trekking viaKaare passing ethnic Gurung villages en route with the beautiful sceneries of Pokhara valley. Reach the Austrian Camp which is believed to be one of the most beautiful camping grounds on this route. Dinner & Overnight at Camp.

DAY 05: Trek via Dhampus to the finishing point and drive back to Pokhara.

There will be early morning wakeup call with bed tea to view yet another magnificent sunrise over the mighty Annapurnas. The day's course begins with a gradual descent passing through the village of Dhampus, where we shall stop for a short rest and continue along the ridge descending to Hyangja where there is a big Tibetan settlement.

We continue our trek at the confluence of the Mardi river and then on to Naudanda Phedi. Upon arrival, we say our goodbyes to the porters and trek staff and board the waiting vehicles for the 30 minutes drive to Pokhara. Pokhara city is a vacationer's paradise with its clear lakes and fantastic views of the Annapurna range including the magnificent 8000-m. peaks and Mount Fish Tail.

Free afternoon for extra individual activities. The trip leader can arrange for golf or city sightseeing upon request. As an optionin the evening,you may like a Cultural Dance and Dinner at the courtyard of the Hotel. Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 06: Free for extra individual activities.

DAY 07: After breakfast, meet the waiting vehicle and drive to raft – put – in point at Damauli from where our 1 nights 2 days rafting starts.

As we float down from the Madi bridge a narrow rocky waterways give us a confidence of our guides how they command in adventure with an attitude. Most of our time on the river will be scenic floats, exploring the river and enjoying the scenery. We normally stop for the lunch on the sandy beach just after an hour exploration. After lunch, we explore the camp side.

The first day provides normally five hours of rafting (depends on the water volume and gradient of the river). We have few kilometer just gentle float, playing waves and great scenery. At the end of the day we set up the camp near by the village of Saranghat .

After setting the camp we will have hot cup of tea & coffee with biscuits followed by soup. Afterwards in our leisure time we can make our evening enjoyable with the books or we can play music, sing and dance. Dinner is served soon afterwards.Overnight at beach camp.

Activities: Rafting, river beach camping and local activities if interested eg. Bird watching, hiking, swimming.

DAY 08: Rafting on Seti river; drive to Chitwan National Park; overnight in Jungle Lodge.

Early in the morning about 7:00am , trip leader gives us a wakeup call with a cup of tea and coffee. After taking hearty breakfast, we load the gear on the raft and explore Seti river.

On the second day of rafting, there is normally two hrs. ride (depends on the volume & gradient of the river) to the take out point. Just an hour exploration after the camp there are three main rapids followed one into the next is the best white water zone of Seti.

At the take out point, after unloading gear from the raft we have a lunch. After lunch, we drive to  Royal Chitwan National Park. The park is home to greater one horned rhinoceros, sloth bear, wild boar, gaur (bison), 4 types of deer, 2 types of monkeys, 2 types of crocodiles, leopards, the elusive Royal Bengal Tiger and over 400 species of birds and various reptiles and other smaller mammals.

We are met by our naturalist and transferred by jeep, river boats, elephants or land-rovers to the Temple Tiger Jungle Lodge. Welcomed at Amaltarighat (River crossing point) by welcome drink, cold towels and welcome tika .

In the late afternoon, we enjoy jungle safari on elephant back. In the evening, a hearty meal of continental or Nepalese cuisine is served around the campfire. Overnight at the Resort.

DAY 09: Wildlife safari activities in CHITWAN national park.

Early morning, after tea or coffee we set for an elephant ride or a jungle walk to view the wildlife in their early repose for 2-3 hrs. and return to the camp. After breakfast, we visit elephant stables to get a firsthand knowledge on elephants from senior naturalists. Here we can witness the rare scene of elephants at bath. In the late afternoon, there is a choice to participate in the programs offered at the camp, which includes jungle drives in Land Rovers visiting different lakes inside the National Park, Canoe rides/ floats or an escorted Nature walk and bird watching excursion. Overnight at the Resort.

DAY 10: Drive back to Kathmandu. Afternoon free to relax, roam around and do shopping.

DAY 11: Free till transfer to the airport for final departure.
