This short trip to spiritual Nepal revolves around a metaphysical blend of the Hindu and Buddhist faiths, offering a tantalising mix of therapeutic and educational experiences ranging from yoga, meditation and traditional Hindu Ayurvedic massage to visiting historic monasteries and temples for an insight into the intriguing lives of local lamas, nuns and priests.
Where Culture Meets Spiritualism
In the medieval Nepalese capital of Kathmandu, said to have more gods than people and more temples than houses, you will witness devotees paying visits to open temples, locals busily performing various agricultural duties outside their homes, and men engaging in age-old traditional pursuits such as pottery.
Whilst visiting ancient Buddhist monasteries in the Kathmandu area, you will interact with Himalayan monks who will give you a blessing as well as introductory lessons on Buddhism, and you will gain a deep insight into the daily lives of local lamas and nuns. In addition, you will travel to the sacred site of Lumbini, birthplace of the legendary Lord Buddha himself. During visits to busy local Hindu temples, you will observe numerous rituals which form an integral part of the Hindu faith. You will come to know the prominent Hindu gods and goddesses in all their glory, including Durga, Goddess of Victory of Good over Evil, Shiva, God of Creation and Devastation, Ganesh, God of Wisdom and the Remover of Obstacles, Laxmi, Goddess of Wealth and Fortune, and Saraswati, Goddess of Knowledge and Arts.
Purification Of Body & Mind
Over three days, you will learn to apply the incredibly relaxing and uplifting techniques of yoga and meditation. In addition, at your hotel, you will be treated to a highly enjoyable Ayurvedic massage and traditional spa bath as well as offered other treatments based on Hindu methodologies.
